Parenting Grace for New Moms Who Need Encouragement

No one was more excited than I was to be a new mom. I’d attended all the classes, read all the books, and asked for all the advice.

Still, when I finally left the hospital and carried our newborn baby girl into our home for the very first time, I melted into a puddle of tears. How will I know what to do? What if I don’t have what it takes?

My unexpected meltdown startled my husband. I’d seemed so sure, so confident. Now, here I was, convinced we should find someone else to raise our precious baby. After all, she deserved a fair chance to survive and flourish.

There’s nothing in the world like those first few weeks of mothering. A mixture of parenting insecurity, out-of-whack hormones, and a dose of the most overwhelming love she’s ever felt before is bound to make even the most confident woman dissolve into a pool of uncertainty.

At a time like that, we need parenting grace for new moms. In other words, we need words of assurance to convince us that—with God’s grace—we have what it takes.

That’s why I wrote an article over at The Joyful Life Magazine called Encouraging Words for New Moms (joyfullifemagazine.com).

If you’re a new mom, I hope these words encourage and strengthen you as you take on the most important job of your life. If you’re not a new mom, I hope you’ll share this article with a woman who needs a little dose of parenting grace for new moms.
