Parenting Middle Schoolers

There’s nothing quite like parenting middle schoolers.

In between childhood and the wonderful world of teenagers, there’s the middle schooler. Filled with important feelings and first tastes of independence, middle schoolers are often filled with excitement, doubt, frustration, and uncertainty. And often all those emotions come packaged in the same moment.

Although parenting middle schoolers is a challenge, it’s also a holy calling.  It requires “gentleness, firmness, and huge doses of grace. It’s not a job for cowards, but neither is it a time for callousness. No matter  how trying or surprising the season, we can call on the Lord to ‘teach {His ways} to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise’ “(Deuteronomy 11:19, ESV).

From my own experiences with three middle schoolers—and now as a grandmother of middle schoolers—I’ve written down my best advice for How To Deal Graciously With Middle Schoolers. You’ll find it over at The Joyful Life Magazine blog right HERE.

If you’re a parent of middle schoolers, may the Lord bless you and keep you and give you all the wisdom and patience you need for this important season. 🙂
